With the new Pokemon anime season coming up, I wanted to ask about the tagging for it. I know that with the Kanto/Johto/Orange Islands seasons they're collectively referred to as "Classic" (as in pokemon_(classic anime)), and every other season is tagged after the games due to taking place mostly in the corresponding region.

Considering the new season is a "world tour" season and not strictly about SWSH, would it be safe to tag it as something else or leave it as SWSH?

Judging from wikipedia each of the seasons is titled with the game series and then a subtitle. When season 23 is announced in Japan, we can see if the pattern holds or changes.

People have already started using pokemon_swsh_(anime) for the next-gen anime series. It can serve as a placeholder for now, but I wouldn't start any BURs or anything until more info's out. For all we know, it could be called Pokemon: World Tour or Pokemon Reunion, instead of Pokemon Sword and Shield.

As far as I can tell, the new season has no subtitle, so we might have to make something up.

Something like pokemon_(2019_anime) or pokemon_w_(anime)? That last one was made up because they referred to Satoshi and Gou as "W Protagonists" in their description.
