imply shimakaze-kun -> shimakaze

Posted under Tags

We don't historically do either of these implications for genderswap characters. See similar characters like bowsette and kyonko (though whether people also apply the non-genderswapped character's tag to art of them anyway is highly inconsistent.)

The best reason for not doing so, generally speaking, is that a female character can cosplay a genderswap character and have their character tag applied to a post, while not being a genderswap themselves (i.e. post #3453101). I acknowledge this reason cannot apply to Shimakaze-kun, since he wears exactly the same thing as Shimakaze, but it seems like we should stay consistent.

Another reason is it's generally nice to keep the chartags: metatag accurate, though we have many tagging practices that are incompatible with this (cosplay being one of them.)

I have to agree that Shimakaze-kun should be tagged genderswap in virtually all cases, but I'm loath to endorse any character -> genderswap implication, lest it be used as a precedent for creating such implications for other genderbent characters.

We've had this happen before with characters like Cagliostro, where users wanted to implicate genderswap_(mtf) despite this tag being intended for artistic liberties rather than canonical character traits. Also, there's the matter of recursive genderswaps, where the character is turned back to their original gender. Like the cosplay issue, this isn't likely to be a concern in the case of Shimakaze-kun, but it could be problematic with other characters, so I'd like to avoid making a habit of creating implications like this one.

Yeah, but that's because Bowsette looks nothing like Bowser and Kyonko doesn't look like Kyon. This argument falls flat on its face in this case if you ask me. It isn't the same kind of genderswap if you want.

This also won't set any precedence as it's a very unique case of a genderswap.
