The main reason for not implying certain characters like Kyonko or Bowsette is because it would flood the base tags and make certain kinds of searches harder. If you're searching for Kyon himself you don't necessarily want to see a million Kyonko posts. Likewise with Bowser, you don't want to see a million Bowsette posts. If you do want both characters at the same time, you can always do ~kyonko ~kyon or ~bowsette ~bowser. It's also useful if you can search kyonko kyon to find both characters appearing together.

For Shimakaze-kun -> Shimakaze, there's no risk of flooding and nearly all posts are already tagged Shimakaze anyway, so we might as well do this.

For Shimakaze-kun -> genderswap (ftm), I think it's better to just tag manually. As a general principle cross-category implications should be avoided, there always ends up being some kind of weird hypothetical situation that disproves the rule.

Yeah, but that's because Bowsette looks nothing like Bowser and Kyonko doesn't look like Kyon. This argument falls flat on its face in this case if you ask me. It isn't the same kind of genderswap if you want.

This also won't set any precedence as it's a very unique case of a genderswap.

I have to agree that Shimakaze-kun should be tagged genderswap in virtually all cases, but I'm loath to endorse any character -> genderswap implication, lest it be used as a precedent for creating such implications for other genderbent characters.

We've had this happen before with characters like Cagliostro, where users wanted to implicate genderswap_(mtf) despite this tag being intended for artistic liberties rather than canonical character traits. Also, there's the matter of recursive genderswaps, where the character is turned back to their original gender. Like the cosplay issue, this isn't likely to be a concern in the case of Shimakaze-kun, but it could be problematic with other characters, so I'd like to avoid making a habit of creating implications like this one.

Reason: Shimakaze-kun is basically genderswapped Shimakaze. It's a subset.
It's already being tagged with both: shimakaze-kun -shimakaze_(kantai_collection) barely has any picture and they all seem to deserve the parent tag.
