Blouse to shirt implication

A blouse is not a shirt

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/blouse :

blouse -- a shirt for a woman or girl

.

I like slime's argument. We can make an implication and change current dwiki blouse definition :

... The main difference between a blouse and a shirt is that a shirt can be tucked into the clothes, whereas a blouse is designed to hang outside the clothes.

to something like "loose feminine shirt usually made of light material". The issue that would still remain is that the border between a blouse and not a blouse will remain rather blurry as to me. Slime can probably propose more clear definition.

All definitions of "blouse" I could find online call it a shirt. The shirt tag is already watered down anyway, since it includes things like dress shirt and t-shirt, which look nothing alike.

Even camisoles and hoodies get tagged shirt on a semi-regular basis. It is, for all intents and purposes, a tag for any upper-body garment that isn't underwear or outerwear. Even the wiki acknowledges this; it's been defined for nearly ten years as "A piece of clothing worn on the upper half of a body." I don't think I could come up with a more generic definition if I tried.

You can't just reduce an article of clothing down to a single embellishment like that and call it an adequate description. You're a pretty thorough tagger so I know you're perfectly capable of spotting more nuanced differences between blouses and shirts than something like a ribbon or frill. Look at the neckline, the way it fits around the waist, the way the sleeves (if present) are attached. Little subtleties add up to make a big difference.

A tag like frilled_shirt will always be next to useless for searching for characters in blouses because of shirts like post #2549040 and post #3790604. These look nothing like blouses, and expecting us to rely on such a tag for finding blouses would be a major impediment to those of us who are actually aware that blouse isn't just a fancy word for shirt.
