choker -> necklace

We "tried" this once but the topic got derailed and closed within an hour.

Votes already in:
Log - No
LaC - No
葉月 - Probably a no, didn't state implicitly.
Shinjidude - no (forum #19134)

I've already volunteered to undo the damage by
DemonsSouls if we decide the implication is garbage.

Here are the two arguments I've heard:
For: wikipedia and M-W say so.
For: All accessories are jewlery
Against: Danbooru is not a dictionary. The chokers here are not, by danbooru's definition, jewlery.

Updated

Just to make it clear: my vote is no. The chokers we have do not fit what you ordinarily think of when you say "jewelry", so an implication would be harmful. Of course in the few cases where they do actually pass as jewelry I have nothing against tagging them as such. Just no implications.

I also vote no to the implication, and agree to the above on tagging those few cases that are separately.

I'll go through and purge tomorrow or so, depending on what happens.

Anyone feel like defining some example cases where it would be a necklace or jewlery? I can think of one off the top of my head but if we want to leave it off those too that's fine.

ie: When there is something that is distinctly close to the neck but has a noticeably sized jewel hanging off it, but I'm not sure if I would define this as an actual necklace or just jewlery. (Also I have no idea if danbooru actually has any images that fall under this.)

I'd say any case where it is mostly made of precious metal, jewels, or pearls, or if it very predominately features any of the above it would be called jewelry.

If it's simply a cloth strip with or without embellishments, it's not.

Also if it's something like the thing Nadia wears it's a neck_ring rather than either choker, or necklace (perhaps still jewelry?). There are at least three instances of this in choker ATM, but perhaps other characters might wear them too, I don't know.

Personally I think the fine line gets laid where the item in question is a decorative piece, or a bdsm/dominatrix piece.

If you look at the Gothic Lolita styles many have chockers but are in no way considered sexually suggestive in content. Unfortunately I don't see a clear cut line in determining what is explicit and what is not (or otherwise artistic in nature); as some are definitly explicit (chains, ropes, bondage, etc.) and others are purely artistic in nature (like pure shigure), its one of those grey areas that depending on the nature and content of the image in quesion has to be reviewed on a case by case basis.

If it's used in BDSM play it's usually a collar rather than a choker and it still has nothing to do with necklace/jewelery.

I thought that a choker was a high tight collar, but synonymous to necklace.

A choker just sits tight around your neck like a collar, while the necklace is more comfortable for you to wear.

Going for a no here.

Thanks to whoever did the edit, however it was done. There's no tag history showing either the moron's edits or your patching so this will have to do.
