Tag Implication/Clean-up/Discussion: -> Megami Tensei (series)

Posted under General

Like with the Yuusha series, Tales series, and Final Fantasy, how about an implication to Megami Tensei (series), which would then include everything under the banner.

First of all, I know we have Shin Megami Tensei and Persona as umbrella tags, but nothing to include them with others until now, especially since tagging, say, Persona games with the larger Shin Megami Tensei is inconsistent. I don't know if two or more implications at once are possible, but things in the series to be potentially implicated include:

Megami Tensei
Megami Tensei II

Shin Megami Tensei
Shin Megami Tensei I
Shin Megami Tensei II
Shin Megami Tensei: if...
Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne
Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey

Devil Summoner
Soul Hackers

Persona
Persona 1
Persona 2
Persona 3
Persona 3 Portable
Persona 4
Persona Trinity Soul

Digitial Devil Saga
Last Bible
Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children
Megami Ibunroku Devil Survivor
Catherine (game)

I'm going to need input from other people familiar with the franchise(s) before I can do anything here. The only thing I really know about it is 1) shooting yourself in the head and 2) female_protagonist has a strangely amazing character design given how simple it is.

I don't really know if we gain anything by doing a higher level of grouping here.

Persona especially, its really its own series now, the connection to Megami Tensei is just a relic

Well, the MegaTen games are subdivided into several distinctly separate story sets, buuuut we've set a precedent with the grouping of the Tales of and Yuusha series.

Tentatively voting in favor of this.

Voting against Catherine...by now. It's still unknown if Vincent's cameo in Persona 3 Portable actually ties Catherine the game to Megaten (well, Persona) or it was just a cameo thrown in for no reason.

I'm not really all that opposed to uber-franchise umbrella tags, even when the connection is loose. I don't find them quite necessary but some part of me likes the orderliness of it. At least if fans of the properties acknowledge the high level grouping, even loosely.
