I'm expanding tag group:symbols and added the four playing card suits, and while the others are okay, the diamond tag is very messy and vague. There needs to be a better distinction between the suit and the gemstone. I already updated the wiki to mention argyle.

I propose something like diamond (suit) and diamond (gem), or either keeping the more popular one as plain diamond and defining the less popular one.

I'd go with diamond and diamond_(suit) since a diamond is a gem by definition, while the playing card suit is named for its shape.

I'd prefer diamond_(gem) and diamond, as the shape is much more common than images of the gem.

If you do make a new tag for the shape, I think diamond_(shape) would be better than diamond_(suit). diamond_(suit) only makes sense if the image is related to cards in some way.

Are diamond patterns like the background in post #1052045 argyle? I thought argyle had to have lines in the middle of the diamonds like in post #1049686

Edited to add: I looked at the current diamond tag, and it looks like people don't tag the shape very often (or hardly ever). So perhaps a diamond_(shape) tag is the way to go.

Not necessarily. Argyle is defined as 'plaid diamonds', so it'd be like checkered but at a 45-degree angle.
