Artist tagging help

Posted under General

Words like "koucha" are bad for artist names due to how ambiguous they are (as this case perfectly demonstrates), additionally, while "_(artist)" is better than other qualifiers, it still assumes only one artist by that name.

So you weren't wrong, just not entirely right.

I only meant to provide a reading for the name, not suggest an artist entry. I suppose I shouldn't have written it in square brackets. Should I only use quotes next time?

"Yuuyu".

Just curious if we should standardize artist tags by adding the registered account at the back of the displayed name, like...

yuuyu_(yuyu55)

Don't do unnecessary things. In this case, maybe, since it's just a letter away from yuuyuu.

It doesn't have to be a standard. Plenty of artist names are not going to cause conflict.

But absolutely yes in this case, yuuyu is far, far too ambiguous. I changed the tag.

I'm not sure what you want me to do. iち obviously becomes "ichi", but there's already an artist by that name on Danbooru (with two deleted posts).

I guess the best we could do is append a suffix to one or both of them, but I can't find anything on the former (all dead links) and I'm not very keen on perusing the site of the latter.

This was your upload so I thought you might have the source somewhere for a better name.

Cyberia-Mix said: Something should be done for iち and "ichi" sure won't do.

I changed the source on the one with deleted images to ichi_(ichiy11) and the iち artist became ichi_(kochiroyu) based on the (dead) URL.

Chinese - "pingchenshejiunian"
or
Japanese - "heiseijyuukyuunen"

Hmm, despite the artist being Chinese, it is tempting to think it's supposed to be the latter. Heisei year 19 is 2007. It's the year Pixiv started. Coincidence?

Unless the Chinese means something specific and obvious.

I don't recall there is anything heisei that has anything to do with chinese, so I will suggest the latter.

  • Various English-language sources seem confused about whether Sapuri is the circle name or another member of the same circle. My deduction is that Sapuri is most likely the circle.
  • Various English-language sources give Kiseki's full name as "Kiseki Mizuse" or "Mizuse Kiseki". On Baka-Updates Manga, "MIZUSE" is capitalized as the family name.

It's to prevent hotlinking. Happens a lot with fc2.com and many times the link is still valid.

Normally you should leave those links, but since their main page works just as well as the image link for the Find Artist function, it's redundant.

fc2 links needs to be copy/pasted, or just click and drag it to your address bar.

See why I'm so into qualifying ambiguous or even theoretically ambiguous artist names? We can't alias kiseki to anything on account of it being incredibly ambiguous.

I can only move it manually, turn kiseki into a general/ambiguous tag, and leave a note in the wiki. But without an alias, people's subscriptions and rss feeds and other things break.

So once again, everyone, pleeeeease err on the side of qualifying remotely potentially ambiguous tags! Of you don't, the world may end. I think.

Anyway, moved to mizuse_kiseki.
