Why do we need both ! and !!?

It was discussed previously but uh, good luck finding the thread.

The difference may not be huge but it's significant enough we all agreed it was worth keeping both but not anything beyond two.

Ok maybe we didn't agree but I still stand by what I said earlier. There's no point in going beyond two but there's generally a visual difference in images using one and two, having both doesn't harm anything anyways.
