What's nice with door is that, even when opened, creepers can't pass them. Maybe it was patched since, but last time I checked, it was working.

What you're talking about is probably just them getting caught on the door itself, they can still squeeze by though
This is why you invest in pressure pads for all your doors - so this sort of thing happens less often. It's a shame that TNT behavior has changed to require a Redstone current.

All you'd really need to do for this to work is simply place a Redstone torch next to the tnt. It'd fall, blow, you pick up your torch and move on.
