16th of the 19 Kagerou-class destroyers. Her name literally means "Storm".
Arashi has a rough style of speech and an aggressive personality, although she appears to dread nighttime, having been sunk in a night battle.
She has yellow eyes and medium-length messy red hair with an ahoge.
Arashi clothing similar to other Kagerou-class destroyers, including a white dress shirt with a black vest, and a red neckerchief. She also wears a black pleated skirt, white gloves, black thighhighs, and loafers.
Her combat gear includes a twin-cannon turret held like a large pistol, with a backpack-like mount for a smokestack that carries swing-arms for more turrets. On her hip, she carries a pouch with depth charges, and tosses one in her official art. She also wears a belt that carries smaller anti-air guns and a searchlight as a belt buckle. (Due to similarity of design, the buckle can bring Kamen Rider references.)
The historical IJN Arashi bears the quite dubious distinction of being the ship that may have inadvertently led to the crushing Japanese loss at Midway. Arashi had separated from the group to hunt down the American submarine, USS Nautilus, and the lost American pilots hunting for Japanese carriers found, and tailed Arashi back to the main Japanese fleet. The attack that followed destroyed both Akagi and Kaga. (Souryuu was also near-simultaneously fatally wounded, but this was by a different air wing, so it wasn't Arashi's fault.) She later went on to be sunk during the humiliating Battle of Vella Gulf, where American radar (which was superior to what the Japanese had) resulted in a night battle where American forces achieved total surprise and were never struck by a single round of enemy fire. She sank alongside Kawakaze and her sister-ship Hagikaze, while Shigure escaped.
