Danbooru Mod Queue
Welcome to Danbooru's infamous Mod Queue, home of the three-day death row for unwanted (or once in a red moon, forgotten) posts!
The Mod Queue is what sets Danbooru apart from most other imageboards and repositories on the Web. It is our system of keeping Danbooru's quality bar high by filtering out images which do not meet our Quality Standards.
98% Manual Quality Control
Specially appointed users operate the Queue, visually searching through hundreds to thousands of uploads, evaluating each and every post for its quality. This is an arduous process done completely by hand, assisted only by browser addons and the occasional self-written Python script.
All users with the approve posts permission are responsible for approving posts in the queue (help:users). You can view a list of them here. Get to know them, and treat them with respect. You will be rewarded for doing so.
The Moderation Process: "Three Days".
When an image is posted on Danbooru, it is placed on the Queue. Posts which are in the Queue are distinguished by their blue border when viewing the gallery in thumbnails. The full Queue may be listed by using the search metatag status:pending.
All posted images have three days to gain the approval of the Queue Masters.
If the post has not been approved by any of the Queue Masters after this time limit, it gets thrown into the fires of deletion, often with hopes that it would never be seen again.
If the post has been given approval by any the Queue Masters, the image is placed into Danbooru's permanent collection.
However, an approved image on Danbooru may be returned to the Mod Queue at any time if flagged by a user for not fitting in. In this case, the image is slipped into a red frame, placed back into the Mod Queue just as if it was a newly uploaded post, and the Mod Queue process starts anew.
The Moderation Process, in Short:
1. A new post is uploaded.
2. The new post is placed in the Mod Queue.
3. Mod Queue Masters review the post.
4. If there are no approvals within 3 days, the post is deleted.
5. If a Queue Master approves the post, the approved post is added to the permanent collection and remains on Danbooru indefinitely.
6. If the post is flagged by another user, go to Step 2.
Exceptions and Exemptions:
The "unrestricted uploads" permission allows users to post directly to Danbooru's permanent collection, bypassing the Mod Queue. This privilege is given to frequent uploaders with an excellent track record of uploading consistently high-quality art, to allow them to contribute to the collection without the constraints of the Mod Queue.
Help us keep our gallery clean!
If you find a particularly low quality post that doesn't belong on Danbooru, you may notify our Queue Masters to return the post to the Mod Queue.
Simply open the post in full view, and click on Flag on the left pane, third choice from the top under Options. You will be prompted to enter your reason for returning the post to the Queue. Click on OK, and the image's approval will be reconsidered.
Advice for Uploaders Regarding Deleted Posts
Mod Queue Masters are hand-picked personnel, chosen for their sense of quality and their skill at swiftly reviewing posts. The Queue Masters as a team are actually capable of going through virtually every post in the Mod Queue.
Most of the time, it is safe to assume that every post in the Queue has been reviewed at least once.
If an upload isn't approved after three days, it is mostly because it doesn't meet our quality standards. It is comparatively rare for a high-quality post to end up getting deleted because the Queue missed it.
With the understanding that the manual and subjective process of the Mod Queue has its inherent flaws, post deletions may be appealed. For information on lodging a deletion appeal, please consult the guide on Lodging Deletion Appeals.
