clip (weapon)
An accessory for firearms that groups ammunition into a convenient shape for reloading, it is a simple piece of metal with no moving parts. Three general types are the stripper clip, moon clip (used by some revolvers), and the en bloc clip (used by the M1 Garand and several other rifles). Disposable magazines and clips are often confused for each other since they both function to reload a firearm, however clips load ammunition into a weapon that has an internal magazine, which then feeds into the weapon's action to be fired.
Nowadays, the clip is mostly seen in a limited number of older rifles and pistols from the Second World War era.
