User levels
This is a list of user levels on Danbooru, from the lowest to the highest, along with what each is capable of. Each level also has all the abilities of the lower ones.
Anonymous
Posts
- Search up to two tags at once.
- Browse up to 1,000 pages in a search.
Misc
- Browse the site.
- Use the API (read only).
- Have a search timeout of 3 seconds.
Member
Posts
- Edit the tags, rating, source, and parent fields on posts. The rating cannot be changed if the post is rating-locked.
- Revert to previous post versions or undo them.
- Flag at most one post per day, if their account is at least one week old.
- Appeal at most one post per day.
- Upload posts within their upload limit, if their account is at least one week old.
Favorites
- Favorite up to 10,000 posts.
- Have up to 3 favorite groups.
Comments
- Post up to two bumping comments per hour. Non-bumping comments do not count against this limit. Account must be at least one week old to comment.
- Edit and delete their own comments.
Notes
- Create, edit, copy, revert, and delete translation notes (unless the post is note-locked).
Pools
- Create and edit pools.
- Add and remove posts from pools, and reorder the posts in a pool.
- Change the category of pools that have 100 or fewer posts.
Wiki
- Create, edit, delete, and undelete wiki pages.
Artists
- Create, edit, delete, and undelete artist entries.
Forum
- Create forum posts, and edit their own.
Tags
- Change the category (color) of tags that have 50 or fewer posts.
Mass Updates/Aliases/Implications
- Request aliases, implications, and bulk updates.
- Edit and delete their own alias requests, implication requests, and bulk update requests.
Users
- Change their username (at most once per week).
- View username change history.
- Edit their user settings.
- Send and receive DMails.
Misc
- Make up to 10 API updates at once with a regen rate of 1 update per second.
- Access to safe mode.
- Access to desktop mode on mobile devices.
Gold
Posts
- Search up to six tags at once.
- Browse up to 2,000 pages in a search.
- Flag up to 10 posts per day.
- Change the number of posts they see per page (between 1 to 100).
- View censored tags (loli, shota, and toddlercon).
- Use the mode menu in the post index to use tag scripts, among other things.
- Vote on posts (favorites upvote a post automatically).
- Use + and - links on search pages to quickly add tags to the search.
Favorites
- Favorite up to 20,000 posts.
- Have up to 5 favorite groups.
- Use tag subscriptions (up to 5 subscriptions of 20 queries each).
- View which users have favorited a post on the post page (except for private favorites).
Comments
- Post bumping comments without restrictions.
Forum
- View the forum activity indicator. The "Forum" link in the navbar will become italicized when there are unread posts.
Users
- Give out user feedback and delete feedback they have given.
Misc
- Make up to 30 API updates at once with a regen rate of 2 updates per second.
- Have a database timeout of 6 seconds.
Platinum
Posts
- Search up to twelve tags at once.
- Browse up to 5,000 pages in a search.
Favorites
- Favorite an unlimited number of posts.
- Have up to 10 favorite groups.
Misc
- Make up to 60 updates at once with a regen rate of 4 updates per second.
- Have a database timeout of 9 seconds.
Builder
Posts
- Lock and unlock a post's notes and rating.
Pools
- Delete and undelete pools.
- Change the category of any pool regardless of post count
Wiki
- Lock and unlock wiki pages.
Tags
- Change the category of any tag with less than 1000 posts.
- Edit tags without seeing the help message.
Mass Updates/Aliases/Implications
- Edit or delete pending alias requests, implication requests, and bulk update requests created by other users.
Moderator
Posts
- View who flagged a post, and search flags by their creator.
- Moderators can't see the flagger on post they uploaded.
- Replace the image on a post with a different file
Comments
- Edit or delete comment made by other users.
- Sticky comments (to prevent them from being hidden due to downvoting).
Forum
- Edit forum posts made by other users.
- Delete and undelete forum posts.
- View deleted forum posts.
- Sticky and lock forum topics.
- Create and/or view hidden forum topics (up to Moderator+).
Tags
- Lock and unlock the category of a tag.
Mass updates/Aliases/Implications
- Perform mass tag edits.
Users
- Ban users (up to Builder level).
- Ban IP addresses.
- View the IP addresses of users on history pages.
- Promote and demote users (up to Builder level).
- Delete any user feedback.
Admin
Posts
- Lock and unlock a post's status. Status locked posts may not be approved, flagged, appealed, deleted, undeleted, or expunged.
- Expunge posts. Expunging a post deletes it from the database permanently.
Artists
- Ban artists.
Mass updates/Aliases/Implications
- Create or delete tag aliases and implications.
- Approve requests for tag aliases and implications.
Users
- Ban users (up to Moderator level).
- Immune to being banned.
Misc
- Create news status updates.
Special permissions
This is a list of permissions that are separate from user level. A user of any level can have these permissions.
Post approver
- Approve posts, excluding their own uploads, flagged posts they previously approved, and posts status-locked by an admin.
- Delete and undelete posts.
- Move favorites from deleted posts to parent post.
- Ban and unban posts.
- Flag an unlimited number of posts per day.
Super voter
- Increase or decrease a post's score by 3 points for each vote (favorites don't count as a vote).
Unrestricted uploads
- Bypass the moderation queue when uploading posts and have no upload limit. For those unsure of their uploads, the option for them to go through the mod queue is given.
No feedback
- Users with this flag are prohibited from giving user feedbacks.
No flagging
- Users with this flag are prohibited from flagging posts.
Getting promoted
To advance to a higher user level, you must be promoted by a user who is part of the moderation team. The following are general guidelines on how to get promoted to each user level.
Member - Anyone can sign up for a free member account.
Gold - Pay $20 to the site's developers (one-time fee).
Platinum - Pay $40 to the site's developers (one-time fee).
Builder - Make a large number of improvements to the site, such as by uploading, translating, tagging, or anything else that is helpful to other users.
Unrestricted Uploads Permission - Contribute a large number of high-quality uploads. It is important to have few deleted uploads (the usual case is under 10% of the total uploads submitted in the last few months).
