m3 greasegun
The M3 "Grease Gun" was introduced during World War II to replace the different Thompson submachine guns that were then being withdrawn from service. It was a .45-caliber weapon designed to be inexpensive and easy to manufacture, use, and maintain. It got its nickname because of its resemblance to a grease applicator; identifying details include a straight magazine well/foregrip, barrel with no sight post, cylindrical body, and retractable wire buttstock.
