multicolored
On Danbooru, multicolored is defined as the following:
An item, either tangible or intangible, that has at least two distinct non-null colors present in its design.
There are two categories used to define what is considered a color; null, and non-null. Furthermore, 'color' is discussed in terms of light, not pigmentation.
A null color is one that doesn't possess any chromatic hues from the Red-Blue-Green (RBG) color model that makes up every color perceived by the eye. In essence, these cover all three noticeable greyscale colors, those being:
- Black (#000000, or no RBG values present)
- Grey (halfway between white and black)
- White (#FFFFFF, or every RGB value present)
In contrast, a non-null color is one that does have RGB color hues present. On Danbooru, the tags used to represent dominant color themes in images are as follows:
To summarize, if you see something that has at least two colors from the non-null category, it is considered multicolored. Null colors can only be considered if at least one is part of a set of three or more colors, i.e. pink/green/white.
Multicolored clothes is a sub-umbrella tag grouping together every article of clothing with multiple colors. There are specific guidelines outlined for what constitutes multicolored clothing.
This tag is to include all non-clothing items as well, such as eyes, skin, hair, and patterns.
Note: The tag multicolored hair is the one of the exceptions to this (see topic #13006/p2). Only tag such instances of hair if they meet the above definitions for multicolored.
The following tags implicate this tag: multicolored_background, multicolored_clothes, multicolored_polka_dots, multicolored_ribbon, multicolored_rose, multicolored_eyes, multicolored_nails, multicolored_stripes, multicolored_sky, multicolored_skin, multicolored_tail, multicolored_text, multicolored_wings, and multicolored_sarong (learn more).
