sapphire (gemstone)
For tagging purposes a sapphire is a deep blue gemstone.
A sapphire is a gemstone from the corundum family of gemstones, which are crystals composed of aluminium oxide. Trace elements such as iron, titanium, chromium, copper, or magnesium that are locked within the crystal give sapphires their color. The most common color of sapphire is blue, which is created from the trace elements of titanium and iron in the crystal. Sapphires less commonly also come in colors such as yellow, purple, orange, and green. Those with the color red are known as rubies.
