telecaster
The first mass-produced solid body electric guitar, manufactured by Fender. Generally has two single-coil pickups (with bridge pickup placed diagonally), although variations with one or two humbuckers also exist.
Introduced in 1950 as Broadcaster, this name was retracted just year later after a legal action from another company Gretsch (who already named their drum kit Broadkaster earlier). For a short period of time the headstock didn't carry any name (these models are known as no-casters today) and by summer 1951 it was finally renamed to Telecaster.
