Wiki Guidelines and Tutorials
The rationale of the howto: page goes here. Then, the aims of the page follows, in this same paragraph.
Guidelines for howto: pages.
howto: Wiki pages are for in-depth discussions and detailed instructions and guides beyond the level of about: and help: pages. Examples are Wiki style guides, translation issues or instructions on fine-tuning Danbooru performance.
Are you writing a beginner's tutorial or documenting a single feature?
The following types of Wiki pages and templates are more appropriate:
- Use an about: page and template if you are just documenting and about a single feature.
- Use a template:help: page and template if you are making step-by-step tutorials for beginners.
- Creating a Wiki page about a tag? These will be more appropriate:
- template:artist for Wiki pages on artists.
- template:character for Wiki pages on characters.
- template:copyright for Wiki pages on copyrights.
- template:general for other things like image subject matter and memes.
Headings
Because howto: pages can get really long, breaking up the text into multiple headings will really help! Remember to leave a blank line between the heading and the paragraph, to ensure the heading works correctly.
Pitfalls
Sometimes, mistakes small and large may cause a complex procedure to fail. Common mistakes are to be brought to light under this heading.
Important!
In cases where mistakes may prove fatal, please make others aware where they must exercise caution. Examples of things to place under this header are warnings about safety, security and issues such as data loss or forum bans. Your vigilance will bring good karma!
