Tag implication: pointy_ears -> ears

Posted under Tags

This would only make sense if the ears tags applies to every image where ears are visible at all. Do we really want to use ears that way? Seems too general.

Would make more sense to use ears like eyes, face, feet, etc, and only use it when a lot of focus is placed on the ears.

Ears are relatively uncommon in posts. If they aren't animal ears then they're often hidden under hair or too far away to see. Tagging them when they're clearly visible isn't that unreasonable.

Are you sure? I think it's just undertagged because having ears is so normal that many times users don't think of it, unless, as Toks said, the ears are the focus of the image. Looking through -ears, I can see a lot of posts that have ears in them.

Since pointy_ears is 53x larger than ears, the ears tag would become worthless for finding anything but pointy ears unless someone tagged all the non-pointy ears. Seeing as how -ears is such a large search that it doesn't display a final page number, I'm a little concerned with the amount of tagging this would involve. Even with tag scripts, it seems a little daunting. And even if we could pull it off, how then would we find posts that emphasized ears?

I would like to make a counter-proposal: That we write a wiki for ears that makes it analogous to mouth and eyes, then clean up the tag to remove posts that don't have a focus on ears, an abundance of ears, or ears in unusual places.
