Anatomical tags discussion [Was: Peeing tags]

any pee-related tags should be aliased to "urolagnia".

That would be inaccurate. Urolagnia is one of the names for the fetish, but it's not the name for the specific acts enjoyed by the fetishist. It'd be like aliasing footjob to podophilia.

No unless you also volunteer to find and propose aliases from "cum" to "ejaculate" for all cum* tags.

Hm. I always thought those tags were referring to the noun "cum", meaning "semen". And honestly I don't see much wrong with changing the cum* tags to semen*.

I agree with both of 0xCCBA696's posts about tag changing, but I think this whole topic is ridiculous really. This person seems to be getting upset because danbooru doesn't have enough of what he's looking for in terms of his particular fetish. However, we have a pinned topic on the front page of the forums saying "ATTN: DANBOORU IS NOT A PORN SITE" - Unless that's changed, I'm pretty confused. :<

Quick definitions (ejaculate)

▸ noun: the thick white fluid containing spermatozoa that is ejaculated by the male genital tract

I was just making fun of 0xCCBA696's silly suggestions. We're not a medical journal, there's no reason to change peeing to urination unless you want to make it extra awkward.

I dislike all the porn terms hanging around booru, because it's sleazy and makes people think we are a porn site.

I thought I was the only one.

I'm aware that ejaculate can be a noun, but it is so rarely used as one (outside a medical context) that, as I had undertaken to treat your response seriously, I assumed that that was not the meaning you had intended. "Urination" is hardly a term limited to medical or technical contexts, nor is "semen", and I don't really find anything silly about my suggestions. From the looks of it, plenty of people agree with me. I'm not going so far as to, for example, suggest an alias from pussy to vulva, since a surprisingly large number of people (erroneously) call it a vagina, but even that is not nearly as far fetched as "ejaculate" (the noun).

Well, pussy is troublesome in general because it describes the area, not really just the vulva or anything. But to compare it to an example that doesn't suck, we've got breasts on danbooru, not "boobs".

I don't think the term urinate is all that medical, really. We're gladly using heterochromia and I am absolutely certain that more people know what urination is compared to that.

this thread gets more retarded every time I check it.

I'm really sorry about that.

0xCCBA696, スラッシュ, homeless_homo: I'm with you if you give me intercrural instead of thigh_sex.

I thought "pussy" was in use to cover the vulv-vag combo. Also, "cum" is so much easier to type, along with is numerous sub-tags.

Anyone opposed to renaming "ass_hair" as "anal_hair"? Really, the ass is so much more than the pics' areas that tag's focused on.

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, "vulva" means "the external genital organs of the female, including the labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, and vestibule of the vagina". That's all that's visible in most pussy posts (if that) - if more is visible (i.e. well INTO the vaginal canal), it should be tagged appropriately.

evazion: That's a little problematic - I think ass is in common enough usage for it to be kept as is.

LaC: I wouldn't mind.

Are a lot of these changes all that beneficial? The more formal words tend to be longer, and unless the tag is just horribly vulgar I don't know what the big advantage to changing them is.

On the other hand, I sympathize with the idea of being more scientific on tags to drive home the point that this isn't "just a porn site". I also know I've felt weird adding some of the "less polite" tags to what are in reality quite clean and artistic images that just happen to feature privates.

I dunno, I shrug.

I don't see them so much as "more formal" as as "more neutral". Tags should be matter-of-fact, and using slang terms when a normal word would do fine adds a tinge of personal voice to the tag list, which is odd.

Instead of being deterred, we could see it as an opportunity to educate people. There isn't a better option that "vulva", anyway, is there?

I said I wasn't going so far as to suggest it, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't support it. I just assumed nobody else would.
