The tag implication #9167 looping_animation -> animated has been rejected.

Reason: Looping animations are a subset of animations.

Just FYI, the non-looping_animation tag was originally for GIFs with the "do not repeat" flag set. (they play only once and stop on the last frame. It's not very common.)

Lately people seem to have conflated it with whether the start/end transition looks seamless or not. We should probably rename some of these tags for clarity, seamless_loop and non-repeating_gif or something.

That would be me. I was populating looping animation and I forgot that non-looping animation wasn't the opposite concept.

I'd support non-repeating gif. As far as I know GIF is the only format that allows non-repeating animations. Sometimes people mistag video with sound posts with non-looping animation because Danbooru disables looping on MP4s or Webms that have sound, but the file itself doesn't disable looping.

Makes sense to clarify it further. Funfact; the old name actually used to be seamless_loop but I moved it some time ago to looping_animation because I thought it wasn't clear enough because people were having issues finding it.
