wagashi move and related implications

Posted under General

This was previously discussed in forum #53755, where it was proposed to introduce wagashi as an umbrella tag for Japanese confectionery such as dango, youkan_(food), mochi, etc.

However, wagashi is currently an artist tag. Suggest moving the artist to wagashi77 (blog url) or wagashi_(okashina) (blog title).

Then, implications:

While we're at it, take care of some of those individual tags as well

For dicussion: disposition of japanese_sweets tag. Existing alias wafuku->japanese clothes suggests wagashi->japanese_sweets. However I would advocate aliasing in the opposite direction to avoid being too vague, since it is useful to maintain the distinction with other Japanese snacks such as pocky. Agreed with your suggestion. Wagashi is used specifically to refer to traditional Japanese confections; having Pocky counted in that number would be off, since it's a modern-day invention.

Moved to wagashi_(okashina). Wagashi is now open with a basic wiki stolen from, er, Wiki. Please feel free to change/expand. Just leave the reference to the artist formerly tagged there.

wagashi -> sweets
dango, youkan_(food), taiyaki, mochi, sakura_mochi, ichigo_daifuku, etc. -> wagashi (May need to de-implicate mochi -> food first)

Done, though someone will need to specify any "etc" they want.

wagashi -> food (?)

Hmm. We don't implicate candy -> food, but it seems like these confections would be categorized closer to cake or cookies than candy canes or M&Ms, and cake is implicated to food. So, maybe? Not sure.

alias ichigodaifuku->ichigo_daifuku

Done.

sakura_mochi is artist 星猫, suggest move to pixiv username kiraneko (which I presume is the intended reading, as opposed to hoshineko) and then alias sakuramochi -> sakura_mochi

Moved to hoshineko_(kiraneko) just to cover all bases and avoid any potential ambiguity.

We can alias japanese_sweets -> wagashi, unless you're saying we need an umbrella tag for something like pocky too, which I agree should not be under wagashi.

That's all I could think of for now. Maybe someone else might spot something we've missed.

Besides cake, dessert and ice cream also implicate food, so this line of reasoning works for me.

I meant the latter; clarify that pocky should not somehow end up under wagashi, since forum #61759 trying to identify an umbrella tag for pocky and the like and japanese_sweets was suggested. Other alternatives for that are japanese_snacks, snacks, sweets, etc.
