Sure it does. If it is an artists take on how they want to perceive a human body they can draw it however they want. It's clear here that the artist was not going for a realistic style, so it's more than acceptable. The quality of the piece in and of itself is perfectly fine, albeit a little old fashioned when it comes to taste. Regardless, definitely not worth deleting just because people are too used to what qualifies as, "standard" these days.
I should also mention, if people look at posts or images like these in general and instantly think, "wow that is a messed up body" there is a bigger issue at hand than just their taste and misunderstanding of art in general. If we were to flag this for only the sake of anatomy, then we should also flag every character that has horns, rabbit tails, wings, etc. because they too are not anatomically correct. If you were to argue that they belong because it's fantasy, then you're just agreeing with my reason for why this is acceptable. Fantasy is just an artists interpretation of what we know as reality. In example, this picture the artist clearly has some interesting ideas about the female body, but nothing worth shaming over. Seriously though, if you look at this image and don't think it fits in on an website dedicated to art of all variety then you should really take a look at what you're trying to accomplish here. There's a very distinct line between, "bad anatomy" and "bad drawings." This is not the latter. Hope this makes sense to you and maybe lightens up your view on what is or should not be acceptable.
Agree with Fujishiro. Plenty of mainstream artist have "Questionable" body anatomy but when you look at their manga, you will see it's entirely the art style and it's has continued continuity for their whole series.
Series i can think of that are not "Pretty" or have weird body parts would be One Piece, Sayonara Zetsubu sensei and basically anything by Clamp.
in Sayonara Zetsubu sensei, the characters have uncharastically huge feet and hands.
in Clamp, basically everyone looks like a twig and are totally aneroxic.
and in One Piece, the body measurements are all over the place even if we ignore the alien or monster characters and only look at humans.
On the other hand, if you want "Realistic" anime bodies, look no further than the gundam series which is a more serious tone. A lot of slice of life shows also have realistic bodies as long as it's not chibi style.
I don't particularly agree on the case of this post because it's not really my cup of tea, but you are pretty much spot on on the general issue with these flags.
Flagging for "bad anatomy" posts that are already unrealistic in the first point like this one is ridiculous. I know this argument sounds a bit like "It's supposed to be bad!", but this is more of a flagger's issue with a certain artstyle than actual "objective" faults with the image, and that doesn't really justify the deletion of a post.
Talking about the artist's style makes sense when the artist has a knowledge of anatomy rules and is deliberately changing them in a way that is aesthetically pleasing, but that argument falls apart when the artist is clearly compensating for a lack of knowledge. It's almost completely unquestioned when anime characters have oversized eyes, for instance, but we notice when they start randomly changing size and floating around all over their faces from shot to shot.
I think this image is both stylized and flawed. Certainly the artist was conscious of drawing pencil-thin waists and oddly-shaped heads, but it's harder to argue that he intentionally drew her forearms at two different lengths and her chest pointing at a different angle than the rest of her torso.
And so you're bumping a post and argument just to say not to keep an argument going? There's a "No bump" button just to the right of the "Submit" button, you know?
