Its ironic that an anti-war propaganda film ended up being a pretty strong motivator of encouraging teens to join the marines, or at least consider it on their radar. And then I am sure no one could have predicted the little cult following it gets in Japan. Such a good movie.

Every war movie ends up encouraging some people to enlist. They focus on the exciting action scenes instead of the the over all tone.

Yeah, interestingly enough the whole movie was what made me so interested in Vietnam and I wouldn't lie if there wasn't a part of me that kind of wish to enlist just to KILL SIR!

It wasn't "anti-war propaganda". It was simply realistic... very realistic.
