For those of you who don't get the joke, here the explanation: In Civ 6, the leader of the French is the Italian Catherine De Medici, who was Queen France when she married the French King Henry II and later regent for her three sons, who also became Kings of France. In the game, her Civ's specialty is espionage. Hence the joke that Pola, an Italian, becoming the Queen and leader of France and spying on her rivals.
...the leader of the French is the Italian Catherine De Medici...
You know... as Italian I don't like it. She even has, at least, an italian line. I feel like i'm playing against Frantaly or something like that. They could have choose De Gaulle, Louis XVI or... i don't know... Richelieu or something like that.
I know, she was one of the most important queen and she's a very interesting historical figure but... to me she's still a de Medici.
Gotta cater to the SJWs and shove women everywhere, even when better alternative exists. Wanna talk about Gorgo, who's a litteral nobody, when fucking Leonidas is famous?
Yup, this new Civ just made me embrace older one. Aestetics are to cartoony for me, and choice of leaders is kinda dubious. While CiV did had fair share of female figures as leaders, those women were quite accomplished. Yea, they could choose Hannibal over Dido, some Bizantine emperor instead of Theodora, the same with Wu Zetian. But it wasn't THAT bad, you can understand the logic why those were chosen. Gorgo or de Medici is fucking no-name. Hell, Poland also had important Italian queen at one moment - Bona Sforza - get prepared for Italian Winged Hussars, kek. I really was hyped for CiVI, good I didn't went for preorder. CiV strong point was about popularising history - it was awesome to reenact historical things, or make funny choices. Now, where leaders verge on cartoony fiction, it's just not the same.
