I'm not fan of virtual YouTubers... or real ones, however this and the F**k you! meme are rather memorable. :)
I think the problems they have is that they either take themselves too seriously, or are just exactly the same as a normal "youtuber". On Kizuna's case, they seemed to go for a third option: "shitposter", which works surprisingly fine.
Her failures at playing PUBG are always fun to watch, for example.

Virtual Youtuber are basically what Vocaloids are to streamers/youtube content creator: you have idea for a content, but no acting skills , no great voice or just not blessed by great looks? Simple, make someone that will became your stand-in. While we're doing that, why not make a virtual idol that's lovable and cute? And there we have a virtual youtuber.
But since they're kinda, uh, blatantly put, virtual paper doll, nobody would remember them if they didn't have distinct personalities. Even with different model, if more than one of them are doing the same game, in the same way, it'll be boring soon...and there we got the divide between stereotypes: 1: plays game normally, 2: plays game being an ace, 3: can't play game at all. 4: don't even play game.

Sorry, I don't understand your comparison. With Vocaloid, anyone can just use the premade software- with Virtual YouTubers, you have to hire actors and stuff. It's not like Virtual YouTubers are actually AIs, there are real people behind them, and there is exclusively one team making these videos. We just pretend that they're AIs for the same reason we pretend that wrestling isn't scripted- because it makes it more fun. If it was a matter of "I don't have talent of my own," you might as well just hire a real person to be a YouTuber for you. Plenty of real ones have staff. Virtual YouTubers are not in any way an accessibility tool the way Vocaloids are. The real reason this "Virtual YouTuber" craze has started is just because Kizuna Ai was a cute idea, and so a bunch of people jumped on the bandwagon. I don't mean that as an insult- Kaguya Luna may be the result of people jumping on a bandwagon, but she's just as good as Ai. I'm just saying, Virtual YouTubers aren't common because they give more power to creators the way Vocaloids do, because they don't, they're just common because they're the hot new trend. Whether or not this will just be a fad or if virtual youtubers become a whole new form of anime-related media is still yet to be seen, but if they DO stick around, it'll be entirely because people are having fun with it (or are still making money off of it), not because they're somehow useful.

he meant the same pattern, you dont have a good music tools or good voice you can use vocaloid + DJ sofware yes i agree theres different in budgets too but V-uTub one man army is like the kitsune loli nonja its example the ceapest one like the vocaloids songs that uploaded at NND but some vocaloids songs are team works too not as big as the V-uTubers but the pattern is same lol
