The PPSh-41 (Pistolet-Pulemyot Shpagina; Russian: Пистолет-пулемёт Шпагина; "Shpagin machine pistol") was a submachine gun used by Russia during World War II. It was developed in mid-1941 and entered service the same year. The weapon is most commonly pictured with a drum magazine, which held 71 rounds of 7.62x25mm ammunition (inspired by the very similar magazine of the Suomi KP/-31), but 35-round curved box magazines were also widely used.
