Yeah, but no one should have to die of a horrible disease like this one. Especially when world governments could've done more to stop it.

I really hate this time period.

People being disappeared, organs being harvested, concentration camps aplenty.

Yep, as of right now it's "Fascism Time" over in China and that's never a good time to go visit a country.

Is this seriously pro-china propaganda? And propagada against people fighting for their freedom?

That's disgusting.

Yachie exists. New character in TH17. A dragon girl in every sense.

Still not seeing how that's HiH.

Dragons are an extremely common mythological creature and already existed in touhou lore. It was only a matter of time before one made a full appearance in touhou.

This picture would only really be HiH if Meiling herself was revealed to be a dragon.

There were a couple up-skirt jokes from the original game. Sad to see them go.

I just hate that they aren't using the original stock art for the artistic direction. It fits old school FF better than this generic pseudo-realistic stuff.

but then Dragon ball came back because the kids didn't grow up quite right. XD One Piece doesn't know when to end, and Naruto is going through its GT phase.

Dragon ball came back because Toriyama didn't want that awful live action movie to be the final note in Dragon ball's legacy.

And One piece knows exactly when to end, the ending was planned way back in the 90's. It's just a long story.

It's odd. Seeing the end of something you weren't part of during its time makes me feel... Impotent. It's like watching Star Wars for the first time by the time Episode IX is about to hit the theatres.

Or like discovering a new musician you really like, only to find out they've been dead/retired for years. It's a wistful feeling to become a new fan of something after it's living legacy has long since passed.

Imagine how old Atari 2600 players feel.

I've got no problem with things from the last millennium being old. I mean, it's the "last millennium." That even sounds old. It's not the the atari or NES are old, it's that the things that used to represent modern times are now as old as the 80's stuff was back when it was "the future" during the early 00's. Anything past the year 2000 being this old feels unsettling.

Sixth generation games are now nostalgic

I hate this.

The gamecube is now older than the NES was in 2001 when the gamecube first released

I really hate this.

Honestly, I'm surprised it took as long as it did, given how all-encompassing Touhou is.

The fandom isn't as robust as it was 5-10 years ago. A lot of other series stealing it's thunder have come and gone over the years. It's normalized the hype levels of it.

So when you try to compare these two and assign power levels to them, eh, Transformers is gonna win.

How do the transformers counter the moonlight butterfly?

That just seems like an auto-win for gundam.

I've never watched the japanese versions of pokemon, so I only have the goofy 4kids version in my head, but to know the original voice of Oak and the narrator that has been with the anime for 20 years is now gone is fairly heart-breaking.

He was even the replacement for the voice actor of Mr. Satan and Heihachi who died 8 years ago. Looking at all the other roles the man has played over the decades makes it even sadder. If you're on this site and reading this post then he's most likely been a part of a lot of the media you've been seeing over the past 20 years as well.

Hail to the king, baby.

On this subject, anyone ever take a look at whatever happened to the original dev team that made the game? It's kinda interesting if not a little sad for a few of them.

For example: The programmer, Nasir, was a big power player in game programming even at the time of this game and after working on the original FF trilogy and secret of mana, the guy retired on royalties. Kind of odd he didn't want to keep working on the series or on games in general, but that's life I guess.

They're no longer nostalgia grabbing, but it looks like they're still going to use the same old game design formula that's been around since the 80's. I see this as capcom testing the waters as an interest check for the series.

How well it does is probably going to influence what they do and how far they're willing to go with future games of the series.
