Proposed previously in topic #7311 to no consensus. I'm in favor though. It's 900 boxing gloves posts versus 282k gloves posts so it's not like it's gonna flood the tag.
I'm not sure that's the kind of gloves people are expecting to find when they search gloves, but then again neither are paw gloves, which already implicates gloves.

I'd be inclined to remove the implication, particularly since some of those are likely mittens and not gloves, such as post #1303918.
Btw with this definition, boxing gloves do have a two compartments, one for the thumb, one for the other four digits. So shouldn't they be considered some kind of mittens then? Since mittens are defined by having one compartment for the thumb and one for the other for digits.
By the way neat definition of gloves and mittens. I think we have the same in German, but the other word is just underused in our language, so I wasn't aware of that difference. That said this implication shouldn't come through.
The tag implication boxing_gloves -> gloves has been rejected.

Regarding the gloves (compartments for each digit) and mittens (compartments for the thumb and the four other digits: What is that supposed to be? There is a compartment for the thumb, the index finger and one for the remaining three fingers.

Personally, I'd call those mittens. I've seen that style (mittens with a separate index finger) called Gunner's Mittens, as they're designed so the wearer is able to operate a trigger.
Just a quick google check also brings up the term "trigger mittens" for those.
