Trait connection...?
I'd stick with trait connection myself. If necessary, a comment explaining their country of origin would be helpful if it isn't obvious to non-fans.
I agree with Benit's way of thinking, here. Trait connection plus an explanation is more than enough.
If you can populate it, why not?
I think the general consensus among us is that a tag would need at least 50 posts for it to be worth keeping. I don't know about you, but I can't think of any posts off the top of my head that would help populate country_connection when trait_connection + comment would suffice.
So in addition to trait connection, should the country tag also be added...?
I just realized that this will probably be more popular than I first thought... heck, crossovers of Kantai Collection, World Witches Series, Girls und Panzer, etc, would have more than a few of these.
So instead of adding a comment on everyone of those, I'd rather just add the country tag. Thoughts?
Personally I don't really see a reason why this tag can't be created or at least allowed to have a trial run. If the tag population is large enough in the end, can always have it implicate trait_connection.
As for relying on trait_connection and a country tag, I think it leaves the results very open to noise problems (post #1460622), and depending on comments would make the concept obnoxious to search for.
If there are enough posts to populate it, then I certainly won't object to a country_connection tag. It's not like I was totally against it in the first place - I was just concerned if there'd be enough posts to make it worth the while.
So I populated the country connection tag to a degree... I'm most familiar with GuP, and I'm somewhat familiar with Witches and KanColle, but I might have missed some, plus there might be other low-hanging fruit to investigate.
Though, we should probably establish the following rule for this tag.
1. Japan doesn't count, with some exception
Also, while tagging the above, I noticed another possible connection tag... protagonists or main characters. This tag could be used if two or more main characters from a series are drawn together, with no other non-MC's in the picture. I thought of this when I saw pictures of Nishizumi Miho, Fubuki (Kantai Collection), and Miyafuji Yoshika drawn together. Another character mix I saw was Miho, Yoshika, and Miyanaga Saki. Thoughts?
