Danbooru

Tag creation: "shortstack"

Posted under Tags

I mean I guess. There seems to be this big push towards trying to get tags for things that essentially memes around Danbooru lately. I don't know if it's because I've been using the site for about 6-7 years now but I feel like there's been this turnover in the active user base of late that pushes 4chan and twitter memes or hot social media topic stuff ahead of just focusing on high quality artwork which I feel was the standard this site started out with and is sort of struggling to maintain lately with the only consistently high quality stuff for a hot tag appearing to come out of the Azur Lane circles. I see more and more frankly poor quality and/or meme artwork that just ends up getting axed uploaded from official websites (feels like stealing IMO), deviantart, tumblr and random twitter accounts seemingly just based on the fact that it'd contain a certain tag that's trending on 4chan or back on twitter as a meme.

Let me put it this way, I had to blacklist certain tags like comic or monochrome as well as some various franchise copyrights in the last year because the random entire doujin uploads and meme comics with that chibi art that seems to be used in marketing a lot of stuff in Japan that people upload a shit ton of as of last year was just cluttering things up with redundant and poor artwork. I feel like if some people apparently want to just turn everything to do with bishoujo and the anime/manga/game sub culture into whatever 4chan thinks it should be about (again apparently just memes) then they can at least just make their own pools instead of asking a specific tag be allowed for any meme saying that crops up, but if that's the wind the direction is blowing in it's not really like anything I have to suggest would make a difference.

Don't ask me why I chose to put all this here, it's just something I've started to notice especially throughout 2017. Like honestly what are people gonna want next? A meme specific YMMV tag seemingly designed exclusively for 4chan like THICC or THOT instead of a pool so that people can haggle over the definition or whatever instead of just focusing on posting top quality art?

I assume the difference between a shortstack tag and the oppai loli tag is that "shortstack" characters look older? Will there be enough of a difference, when anime characters tend to be drawn with childish-looking faces in general?

It'd be more like oppai_loli curvy, which isn't populated.

Again I know this seems like a weird hill to die on sort of so I'll just point this out. If the already established tag Oppai Lolis last 5 uploads were 14 days ago (x2), 16 days ago (x2 and it's another one of those redunancy uploads I don't understand the purpose of unless it's a nude filter) and then the 10th most recent upload was five months ago then what chance (and really purpose) does adding shortstack having. That's the thing with these sort of impractical meme tags, their lifespan only last as long as people are interested in using them on social media.

Meme Tags like "Trap" (one of the more lasting ones even that also just converts directly to the lasting and established Japanese term Otoko_no_ko) or "Shortstack" will never be as viable as simple common ones combined like say I don't know....child and large_breasts and are only of use for what feels like a hot minute to the 4chan types that tend to fixate and act ridiculously over the top about them "for the lulz" and when given an opportunity. When there's a meme about them they get hot for a couple weeks then they just tend to die off for months at a time I've found.

I don't know just stick to the basics and keep it simple and common when it comes to this stuff. People really don't need 4chan meme tags to convolute the searching process for everyone just to get a cheap chuckle or two IMO.

I literally have no idea what you're on about.

"Short stack" has been in internet parlance since at least 2008 (see urban dictionary entry).

Yeah I don't know where this complaining about memes is coming from given that shortstack is pretty well established internet lingo.

Anyway, I've thought about this tag before too and it's fundamentally different from oppai loli - shortstack is basically meant to indicate a short woman with large assets.
Not sure actually why danbooru doesn't have this tag yet, since other boorus have had it for ages.

Perhaps because height is difficult to discern from solo pictures? Though shortstack is very much a body type, so it's still easy to tell even when it's solo.
Granblue Fantasy for example has plenty of characters with this kind of body, and while height_difference might suffice for group pictures, it doesn't really cover solo cases.

Slightly hesitant +1 for the creation of this tag unless/until someone comes up with a good reason why we don't have it.

My understanding of this term is that it's a girl who is of short stature but well-endowed in curves, thus short + stacked = shortstack.

Unlike Oppai Lolis, these are clearly mature women. However, their heights simply gave up early on while their other feminine traits developed generously.

We don't have a height tags for 'short' or 'petite' characters, or do we?

I'm not sure about how to define shortstacks on this website. I first heard of the term on /co/ and it was being used to refer to a midget in a comic book, specifically the Spider-Man character Anna Maria Marconi. None of the posts Squishy posted have what I would refer to as a midget.

I'd disagree with the proposed examples, at least. Shortstack is a very western term and at least in artwork refers more to goblinesque proportions with extremely compact characters that still have a big ass and thick hips, even shorter (but not any less curvy) than Sturm in post #2268192 and in reality closer to post #2998084, post #1742522 or post #1813605 as an image search outside danbooru would reveal. It's really more about proportions than height given that it often is pretty hard to tell how tall a character might or might not be.

While it would be useful I'm not quite sure that asian artists really use the archetype that much or that images like post #2166729 would actually qualify for it. Incidentally I think images like the latter would be better served by a Sankaku style "short_with_big_breasts" or even "loli_face_and_big_boobs", especially when it comes to images like post #2723093 who looks young but I'd argue is far too long for oppai loli but not squashed enough to be a shortstack.
