Tag can be renamed via editing the wiki?

Posted under Bugs & Features

So, I just noticed while adding something to the description of inconvenient breasts that I can seemingly change the "title" of either the tag or the wiki page for said tag (the two statements may be actually synonymous, depending on how the system works), as well as adding other names (which I interpret as essentially equivalent to tag aliases). Didn't actually do anything with those, of course.

Still... Shouldn't this function be limited to the staff, and maybe certain chosen individuals from non-staff members who can be trusted to not abuse the power?

Only Builder+ should be able to rename wikis (Help:Users). I just tested on Testbooru though, and I was able to rename wikis as a Member-level user. I created issue #3768 for this.

Tags cannot be renamed at all. They can only be populated or depopulated.

It's not synonymous, and the "Other Names" section isn't aliases.

Changing the name of a wiki page only changes the name of the wiki page. The tag would still be on the posts, it just wouldn't have its wiki, because that wiki would belong to the new name. To change the name of the tag, you would have to go to each post that has that tag and put a different tag on it. (Though, unless the tag is incredibly small, the proper way to change tag names is using the "update" command in a Bulk Update Request.)

The "Other Names" field has nothing to do with aliases. It's for the names of equivalent tags on other websites (usually Pixiv). For example, when an artist tags something as 東方 on Pixiv, Danbooru sees that in the Other Names field of Touhou and automatically suggests that as a tag when uploading.
