Cosplay photos and gender counter tags

Posted under Tags

I couldn't find a topic about this but cosplay photos are a very small percentage of the images on the site so it would make sense.

Do photos where the cosplayer is (presumably or known to be) a different gender than the character get tagged as the person's gender or the character's?

post #81128 was tagged with 1girl which would technically make the genderswap tag applicable but it's not exactly relevant. post #106723 was tagged with 1girl and crossdressing which also isn't exactly relevant. To me it would make sense that since the character is the focus of the image and not the cosplayer, both of those should be 1boy.

I think they should be tagged as the cosplayer's gender, with crossdressing when applicable. The cosplayer shouldn't be viewed as the character, but as an original character (or real life character?) who is performing cosplay.

How is a girl crossplaying as a male character "technically" a genderswap? IMHO, the combination cosplay genderswap should only be used in cases where the depicted character(s) are genderswapped from their usual form (e.g. post #2381924 or post #2648759).

The focus is a cosplayer dressed as a character. A girl convincingly dressed as a boy is a reverse_trap, not a genderswap. And we absolutely don't tag them 1boy.
