[REJECTED] Tag alias: drawing_sword -> unsheathing

We've discussed this twice already. The alias fails wherever there isn't a visible sheath because unsheathing implicates sheath. This is a problem for posts like post #1295628, post #2391512, and pretty much all of the drawing_sword sekai_wo_kakumei_suru_chikara_wo images. There are other hypothetical situations as well where drawing_sword may be necessary, like someone pulling a planted_sword from the ground.

What about the reverse then? Get rid of unsheathing in favour of a generalised drawing_sword tag?

For ones that have a sheath just tag the sheath without including anything more since "drawing_sword" and "sheath" as your search result would give the same conclusion.

Either that or have unsheathing implies drawing_sword and probably update drawing_sword wiki to explicitly differentiate itself from unsheathing.

This shouldn't be a problem, but it probably needs to be renamed drawing_weapon just in case we need a tag for characters unsheathing daggers, etc.

Should I remake the thread itself or can this current one be edited to achieve the desired aliasing and updates?

New thread would be better, it's easier to track that way.

Just to say, I'd be opposed to the proposal above - bushcraft knives are routinely kept in sheaths and thus can be unsheathed in the same way as any sword or dagger, but they are clearly not weapons (although, like most sharp knives, they could be used as such - as could a whole host of tools).

Pliers, pruners, shears, scissors and suchlike can also be kept in sheathes, although they tend to be rather different to the ones for blades.

I think "drawing a sword" describes a more general action than "unsheathing". Specifically, the action of readying a sword from a storage position or inactive state. This might involve removal from a sheath, but does not necessarily entail it. For example, for many Big-Ass Sword users like Guts (Berserk) or Cloud (FFVII), a sheath is not practical; they just strap their sword to their back when they're not using it. Thus, they do not unsheath their sword when they draw it.

But it's possible some weapons other than swords could be kept in sheaths. So the implication should be to drawing_weapon.
