[APPROVED] Kaguya Luna & PPH copyright -> The Moon Studio

Posted under Tags

The bulk update request #1944 is active.

create alias kaguya_luna_(character) -> the_moon_studio
create alias pinky_pop_hepburn_official -> the_moon_studio
category kaguya_luna -> character

Reason: They no longer need the awkward copyright tags, and it seems The Moon Studio is still recruiting new members, so this will save some trouble in the future. PPH only has 68 images so she might not be necessary, but this at least gets the whole idea across.

To be clear, I'm using Kaguya's character tag as its specific syntax won't be needed after the update.

Second time making a BUR. If there's an issue with how it was written, please let me know.

EDIT: The bulk update request #1944 (forum #154540) has been approved by @Hillside_Moose.

kaguya luna is the property, which I guess is needed because there might be some associated characters. kaguya_luna_(character) is the vtuber herself.

I think what you're proposing to do is rename the property to the_moon_studio, which is not what this BUR does.

And I'm not sure if this is needed unless they come out with a character on the same tier of popularity as Kaguya. The two are basically synonymous on Danbooru.

I know which way the tags go, I made them, and the BUR does do that, just with less aliases. I already put it in the reasoning but here it is written a different way: the character tag was used because otherwise it's aliasing both the copyright to the new tag and then the character tag to the old copyright tag. Thankfully, because they're synonymous on Danbooru, it's easier to just use the one with the worse name.

They also already came out with a new character, Pinky Pop Hepburn, who's in the BUR. She's not as popular as Kaguya Luna but that's an unreasonably high bar: she's the second most popular Vtuber after Kizuna Ai. Do you really think the best thing to do is periodically check back and judge her subscriber count or whatever, rather than just make the change now because we already know they're officially related? Seems ridiculous, but if it matters she debuted in January and is already in the top 30 Vtubers.

I don't think that really matters, though, because you're right: the current tags are literally synonymous, so there's nothing lost in changing one of them. As a bonus, it has the capacity to show the proper relationship between related character tags, like copyright tags are supposed to, instead of just being a rubber stamp on every Kaguya Luna image.

It probably would've been a good idea to just not have character tags for most Vtubers and use copyrights instead and avoid the headache when stuff like this happens, but we did, so we might as well deal with it.

Thanks for the approval.

One question, though. The last BUR I requested also involved moving a copyright tag to a new one, so this time I made the new copyright in advance to avoid the need for a category change request once it was done, but it seems the category was reverted to something else anyways. Do aliases automatically adopt the category of the larger tag rather than the destination tag, or is it something else? Could I have written it differently to avoid it, or is a separate category change request unavoidable?

The reason was that kaguya luna (character) (cosplay) was moved to the moon studio (cosplay) which changed the tag into the character category.

Well this would only ever happen if a character tag was aliased into a copyright tag which should be a pretty rare occurrence in the first place. If done again the (cosplay) tag should be moved manually prior to the aliasing.
