Update Bofuri character tags to their full names

Posted under Tags

The bulk update request #2404 has been rejected.

create alias sally_(bofuri) -> shiramine_risa
create alias maple_(bofuri) -> honjou_kaede

Reason: These are the characters' full names rather than their in-game names.

This is my first attempt to make such an involved update and I fear I've messed something up along the way. I apologize for any inconvenience.

EDIT: This bulk update request is pending automatic rejection in 5 days.

Are the characters ever shown in the real world? Do they have different designs for their real world alter egos? I know we had some discussion about this with Princess Connect characters before.

I haven't watched much of the anime, but in the very first manga chapter we can see Maple and Sally in their school, looking exactly the same.

Yes, they are regularly shown outside of the game in casual clothes, school uniforms, and pajamas. Is there a reason to not use their full names as the tags? It's the first thing I searched when I came looking for art of Risa/Sally. An alias (going either way, though I think their full names should be the tags) would be very useful.

I had a thought and looked at the forum discussions (spoiler warning) for Sword Art Online, which has a similar issue, to see what the precedence is for this. The big issue with using real names for SAO was the fact that the characters' real names were considered to be spoilers. Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu does not have that issue with its two main characters, Honjou Kaede and Shiramine Risa, as we are introduced to them before either of them ever creates an avatar in NewWorld Online. Just adding this information for anyone interested.

Normally when a character has two visually distinct forms, we use separate tags for each form. So if they have an in-game form and an out-of-game form, we would use their game name for their game form and their real name for their real form. This appears to be the case here.

The series takes place primarily in the game and as far as I know most of the characters' "real names" aren't known. I think Maple and Sally should be the default for consistency's sake (though an alias the other way around is fine).

This request would be consistent with Osaka โ†’ Kasuga Ayumu which was set as policy sometime before topic #33. I remember being against it at the time, but it sort of set precedent of similar cases with the commonly used nickname / pseudonym getting aliased to the much less commonly used real name. I agree that the character names here aren't spoilers like they might be in SAO, and that there could be value in combining the in-game and out-of-game versions of the same people together. The alias request sort of goes in this vein, and does fit prior policy.

On the other hand, tagging personae as separate tags is also well established, say "sailor_moon tsukino_usagi" to cite a recently commonly seen case of a single character getting two simultaneous tags for different identites. There's something somewhat similar with "red_blood_cell_(hataraku_saibou) ae-3803", where the first tag refers to a handful of characters, but it's almost always paired with the second specific character. In most cases again one character gets two tags. In both cases, there are no aliases or implications to enforce any sort of usage. I could see creating implications (not aliases) in this case as being reasonable so long it would always be consistant, say sailor_moon โ†’ tsukino_usagi. The Hataraku Saibou case wouldn't work with an implication though.

I sort of like this approach better I think, where we'd tag Maple as "Maple_(bofuri) Honjou_Kaede" in her in-game form, and only as "Honjou_Kaede" in her civilian form. And create a BUR or implication to enforce it. Any thoughts on that approach?

EDIT: Actually thinking bout the Hataraku Saibou case, an implication would work in the other direction ae-3803 โ†’ red_blood_cell_(hataraku_saibou), but only in that direction.
