Danbooru

yuki_onna tags

Posted under General

There was a previous discussion over the yuki onna tags (forum #22609), but it seems nothing has changed since then.

Currently, Danbooru has three yuki onna tags:

0xCCBA696 suggested using Oikawa Tsurara for the Nurarihyon no Mago character, but it's possible to use yuki onna for the character and yuki-onna for traditional depictions of yuki onnas, original or copyrighted.

Thoughts?

I suppose we should qualify the characters from specific series and leave the base to the general concept when not used to refer to a specific character.

I was thinking that since we have three Yuki Onna tags, we could have left yukionna and yuki_onna as character tags, and use yuki-onna as the general tag.

And that would be so intuitive and not at all confusing.

Yeah. Qualifiers (especially long ones) are annoying, but differentiating based on entirely arbitrary punctuation is...sub-optimal.

Then should yukionna be moved to a *_(gegege_no_kitarou) tag as well? Since we've decided to go with qualifiers, which one should we use for consistency between the tags: yukionna, yuki_onna, or yuki-onna? Wikipedia and ANN use the hyphenated version.

Yes, the Gegege one should be qualified as well.

I suppose yuki_onna or yuki-onna. We use hone_onna for the Jigoku Shoujo character, so maybe yuki_onna. Spaces are usually the option I try first when I'm guessing at a tag that might or might not be hyphenated/combined/split.
