I thought the reasoning for the pussy tag was that using vagina wasn't completely correct, and vulva doesn't catch all images depicting the female genitalia.

Questionable is not always vulgar. And besides, I can choose what pics to look at.

I must reckon I tend to support "vulgar" wordings in these disputes, mainly because the only other option is so often Latin or Greek based physiological terminology. I just do not fancy penis, for example.

In the case of ass vs. buttocks, I would almost vote for the latter. It is not posterior, after all, but rather belongs to the same neutral vocabulary as breasts. (What is the equivalent of flat_ass if buttocks is used?)

However, is such a change really worth the trouble when Danbooru still has tags like cum_on_clothes? The discussion in forum #26872 is telling me that we are not consistently headed towards encyclopedic terminology.

buttocks is a little too formal for my tastes. butt, on the other hand, is neither vulgar nor clinical. ass -> butt is a change I could get behind.

Personally, I think ass is fine, as its vulgarness level is getting pretty low. But if a change must be made, +1 butt.

I say +1 leave it as it is. "Ass" really isn't that vulgar, and "buttocks" sounds extremely stodgy. "Butt" is fine, but I don't know it's even worth messing with.

I definitely prefer to leave it (and the ~20 related tags) as is.

On a scale of vulgarity, ass is rather low. It's fine as it is.

I disagree here, but I will admit that "ass" isn't as vulgar as some other terms we use here (that need to be abolished imo).

That said, I still support the alias. It's not like we're arguing to call it gluteus_maximus_muscle or something like that.

I suppose we'd also have to change the name of the "Dat Ass" pool to "Dem Buttocks", and in this case, I'd back "Dat Ass" up.

Like vulva and vagina, that tag is too specific to encompass all of what makes an "ass". What I can tell, though, buttocks does cover that whole...region?
