Danbooru

Artist removal: k96

Posted under General

I believe this is the third removal request within two days.

Something doesn't seem right here.

It could be a serious problem if it keeps up though.

Maybe we should have a dedicated page on the site for artists (written in Japanese, with a link on the posts page or smth) where we try to explain that Danbooru gives credit to the original artists and provides sources and links to their websites, showcases their work to a larger audience, etc.

I imagine it's quite easy for someone who doesn't speak English to come here and think that Danbooru is using their artwork for the sole purpose of making money through ads. Strictly speaking we do violate the artists' rights, but it couldn't hurt to try and reason with them.

I agree with this. We have a page in Japanese that explains that we credit them, link to their website and original name (both romanji and Kanji). Maybe if we explain that they get more overseas fans that they wouldn't otherwise have gotten because of the language barrier they'd lighten up. I'm pretty sure if they see how many fans they have they'd like it.

I mean I for one know that 774_(nanashi), Sawao and usatarou are very very open with their overseas fans.

Artists like intuos9 have even self-uploaded before so not every artist who finds their work on Danbooru is opposed to their art being here.

It seems to me as though they're getting the wrong idea of what Danbooru's purpose is, and thinking we're sticking them here to muck with their images or claim them as our own or something.

Any movement on this? Sorry if I missed something in another thread, trying to catch up now.

Fred1515's idea is a very worthwhile one and should be acted upon.
