Tag alias? "glistening skin" → "shiny" ?

Posted under General

glistening_skin says "Use when skin has a sheen of specular highlights, typically from moisture."

shiny says "Pictures in which character's skin is shiny, as if they were wet or oiled."

shiny has 826; glistening skin has 76.

Perhaps "shiny" should be renamed to "shiny skin" or something else that is more specific.

Shiny is... a really vague sounding tag. But at 826 images I guess it's too big to not keep an alias in place.

Want to see if someone has any better suggestion to alias it to though.

Are there any instances here where "shiny" describes something other than skin? Because when I think of "shiny" IRL, I think of coins, gems, jewelry, polished car rims, false teeth (see Home Alone), certain firearms (see Robocop 1 & 2). Not skin. Ergo, I disagree with "shiny => shiny_skin."

I wish to point out that some instances of "glistening_skin" may have nothing to do with moisture, but possibly a certain particular kind of plastic or rubber (in the case of an android or cyborg).

Also, I prefer "glistening_skin" to "shiny_skin" but I will accept "glistening_skin => shiny_skin"...

(thanks for pointing me to the right thread)

if i get it right the problems are
- moving shiny to something more specific would keep a well-known tag empty
- aliasing shiny to something more specific would be logically wrong
- aliasing glistening_skin to shiny would solve the problem but make a vague tag even bigger

i would suggest the following solution to this:

alias glistening_skin to shiny_skin
shiny_skin implicates shiny
shiny_clothes implicates shiny
shiny_hair implicates shiny
manually clean up shiny -shiny_skin that do show shiny_skin

Makes sense to me. Done except the manual cleanup, which hopefully someone else is ready to tackle.

Many thanks. I will get started on the manual cleanup.
