Spread_arms has always been more narrowly defined as the arms being stretched out making a T shape with the body, the more recent outstretched_arms tag is by far more general in definition. The broadness of outstretched arms' definition doesn't simply subsume spread_arms, but also \o/. Because spread_arms and \o/ cover fairly specific poses, it would make much more sense that those tags implicate outstretched_arms instead of having one (or both) aliased to outstretched_arms.

That seems about right. At least I couldn't find spread_arms or \o/ that aren't outstretched.
outstretched_arms in any direction
spread_arms, \o/ in a specific direction

I can never remember which the correct tag is for any given arm stretching. Having an umbrella tag for arms stretched in soem direction would be good.

I'm getting a little confused on the current use of \o/. I thought of it as both arms raised in the air roughly diagonally and straight. I see several posts that have arms bent towards the head (some look more like arms_behind_head to me), which looks very different. How exactly is this tag supposed to be used?

Since the wiki says "arms raised in joy" and the majority of what I see are tagged by one user, all the arms_behind_head posts should be simple mistags. It would be best to contact dean_exia directly about this (if he doesn't already read this thread).

Fixed my previous mistags.
