My impression is also, as Danielx21 shows, that commonly "motified" objects are tagged for anything that resembles them, so +1 for flower_(plant) to distinguish actual flowers.

flower has been used for actual flowers for a hell of a long time, not to mention the loads of implications linked to it. Symbolic flowers should get their own tag.

On second thought, what about post #341186?

These flowers are simplistic — much like the flower-symbols of post #1049037 — but they are in the ground, as part of the scene, as actual flowers instead of symbols to decorate objects or backgrounds.

How about:
floral_print be used exclusively for the pattern on clothing
flower_(symbol) be used for both the background and print, and
flower be used for the plant?

Another possibility could be flower_(plant) being used exclusively for the plant, with flower being used as an umbrella term for all 3 types

Also, how would post #888631 be tagged?
I would use flower for the plant and rose, and flower_(symbol) for the choker and beads

The beads don't seem much symbol-like to me. They're quite realistic in the context of the image.

While we're having this discussion, I took back my request to create the "floral background -> flower" implication.
