Tag listing clearup: fixing broken tags etc

Considering accents aren't supposed to be used at all it's a non-issue.

We may not like accents in our tags, but that doesn't mean that a bug in the software shouldn't be fixed.

I'd recommend slowing the pace down, as things seem to move too fast imo. Particularly I'm worried that tags will be "judged" before allowing outside thought on the matter. Rushing to "purge" tags will only result in problems.

On the issue of Swiss_guard, it is referring to the uniform worn by the Swiss guard (external link ), so it should be retained or named swiss_guard_uniform (though traditionally outfits have just simply tagged things like maid, waitress, even though the tag itself refers to the outfit or uniform).

On the interface tag or those like it, I know they're also being covered by fake_screenshot. I don't think heads-up_display is the appropriate tag for those. If they need their own tag for whatever reason, I think using user_interface (a 0 post tag) would probably be best to name it.

Might want to merge have bunny_ear_gesture be a bit broader in naming, like animal_ear_gesture or just ear_gesture, as I the ears on the image under ear_pose doesn't necessarily mean just bunny ears (as indicated by the others having wolf ears).

The spiking action seems to be a rather specific and taggable type of action, is there a particular reason such a tag couldn't be used?

I moved bungee -> bungee_jumping, since that is what the activity being displayed as called.

Archer_pose has a wiki explaining exactly what it is referring to, it might be a rare image, but it is a taggable concept.

The image under probe looks more like the object in it is just a pointer.

Self-immolation is the act of burning yourself alive (going by wikipedia it is particularly done as a means of protest). The image under that tag depicts that and particularly I believe it is referencing the Tibetan monks who've been self-immolating themselves in protest to Chinese rule.

Space Fountain has a wiki which explains what it is, though I'm not sure I could really identify the image that is tagged it as a space fountain.

I moved the image under feeding_tube to breathing_tube, as the device going into the person's nose is what is used for breathing, not feeding.

I’m also a bit worried that we’re going too fast, but more for the opposite reason.

The tags I fix right away are the ones that
- are obviously typos or similar stupidity (e.g. eball),
- I’m pretty sure about what they are and we have a different tag for that (e.g. banisterrailing) or
- are easy to figure out by checking the artist’s Pixiv page or via a Google search (e.g. zoushi_renxing).

For the others I just voice my opinion on the matter.

So I hope not breaking anything that way. Instead, I suspect that the unfixed ones will never be “judged” by anyone and end up forgotten.

I don’t like lumping it under heads-up_display either, but that tag has several non-HUD posts and would require cleaning if we use the user_interface route or similar.

+1 for ear_gesture

The spiking action seems to be a rather specific and taggable type of action, is there a particular reason such a tag couldn't be used?

Nobody ever added it to the several existing posts and I’m wondering what I should do with such a tag if I don’t have the time to fix it. Leave the single tag around and forget about it?

Updated

Morning, everyone. So, if we are going to slow down I think I'd better sum up. These are ones that are left:
vandalized
post #645201 mina is ambiguous, as there's a completely different character there. Also benikazura do we really need it there?
post #481882 we have no shared_clothes tag? Maybe it should be introduced?
charm
allied forces
rivit ears
post #521027
komio nami is probably an artist
apache
have_to_poop
invocation
post #1101991 tagging help is required
pangram
post #1062794
anthropomorphic
equal sign
great dane
grafitti
plus sign
sawed off
lovestruck
smudged_eyeliner
hair damage
carrotguns
interception
cell (biology)
derby
degloving
Also, the question about crushed, crush and crushing is still there. We also have cracks, broken, breaking, damaged (which of the tags goes for broken limbs?)
horde
self-sacrifice
alucard_spear
crotch_flap
crump

These were ignored. Then what we decided to leave (and later garden):

self-immolation
user_interface
archer_pose - probably it should be put on pose wiki
bungee_jumping
swiss_guard_uniform
ear_gesture
catnip
menma
boyscout
hood_over_eyes
rainbow_road
spiked_condom
self-flagellation
observation_deck
drumming_fingers
dukhoo
drinking_pussy_juice

Not yet decided on:
blood-stained_knife
segment_display

Updated

pangram: See Wikipedia. Sounds legit.

post #1062794: Fixed with the magic of JF GI

scarfy is a Kirby character (JFGI)

mirumo is a character (JFGI)

fishing_(poke): I don’t know much about Jojo, but I believe this should be fishing_pole and beach_boy_(stand) shoud be added. (JFGI)

tart should be tart_(food). Have you actually read the friggin’ wiki for tart??

leaf_boat: Well, it’s a leaf boat. Looks legit. I think what they’re celebrating in post #1367379 is actually nagashi-bina, which is usually connected to these dolls on floats, rather than hinamatsuri. Comments?

equal_sign and plus_sign I wouldn’t use, but they are well-known signs and I don’t want to judge these.

interface: I’m with NWF_Renim: This could be user_interface and a bunch of posts with heads-up_display should be retagged.

inventory: I’d put this under user_interface

carcano seems to be an old gun. This might be a job for the weapon specialists and mecha_to_identify.

cell_(biology): Maybe some cell discussion is necessary regarding cell, prison_cell, jail_cell, cell_(biology), plant_cell and blood_cell.

beck_(guitar) is a guitar from Beck named Lucille. Due to other Lucilles existing and the tagger being unsure about how to tag it, I changed it to lucille_(beck).

double dutch: Have you actually read the its wiki article and watched the video tagged with it? While I’m not too fond of tagging every litte shit in videos, it looks perfectly legit.

swirly: Same as above.

martian tripod: Click tag, click image, read comments, use Google, leave the tag alone

dmilr: The tagger fixed it. It was supposed to be smile.

crushed: I’d tag post #1352736 as sitting_on_person

crush: Maybe you should suggest aliasing that to crushing.

aqua_sclera: The tag search tells you that we have several [colour]_sclera tags, so you could leave it alone. However, it’s pretty much unrecognisable in post #791530 and could be normal while with a bit of shadow just as well, so I’d remove it there.

zenus seems to be a character, but I don’t know anything about Shining Force Exa.

toe_cleavage is an easily recognisable concept and could be tagged more often. I wouldn’t use it, though.

spiking: Same here. Easily recognisable concept (see NWF_Renim’s post), coud be used more, have fun tagging.

The ones I didn’t mention are the ones I have no idea about.

You seem to have problems with accessing readily available information, MagicalAsparagus. If you’re that motivated to fix tags, do the research yourself. I’m honestly getting tired of punching stuff into Google for you or just reading the wiki articles on this very site. If there’s something you’re confused about after searching around for it, say that.

Updated

emuko_kousoku should be a character tag. Nevermind, the names were switched. Changed to kousoku_emuko.

low_detail has 6 posts. Probably an unneccesary tag?

Was going over my posts and post #1383666 and post #1383697 stood out -- they weren't showing parent-child relationship from thumbnail view, and when I went to Edit the Parent field was empty.

I changed it (forgot to take a screenshot), then checked the Tag History, and it showed no problems from even before the latest edit.

Just a heads-up if anyone sees the bug again in the wild!

Was the child ever deleted? It's currently a 'feature' that children will have their parent wiped when they are deleted (and won't show it in the history).

I haven't read the whole thread, but I'll just say that id you come to a consensus on anything here that needs an alias or implication, just post it in a separate thread so I see it. I won't necessarily be following every conversation that happens in here, since it would be hard to keep track of.

This is probably related to the bug with accented characters, but it's an interesting case because the lowercase version of the accented character is one of the standard characters. İndex (capital I with a dot above it?) is showing up in the tag listing.

References to anime opening and ending themes, of which "Colorful Days" is one, are routinely tagged.

Right. Didn’t notice it was the anime ending and not just one of the many other idolmaster songs. Looks like you made a wiki article for it, so it should be fine.
