Addition to Disambiguation Pages list

Posted under General

I added this new section to the List of Disambiguation Pages because I was concerned about potentially ambiguous tags that are being used to identify a popular character or object without qualifiers:

Tags in Current Use

These tags are potentially ambiguous, but are in widespread use to identify an object or character. They also double as disambiguation pages to guide to similarly named tags. Further discussion is needed to determine if qualifiers would be needed. Their current use is denoted in brackets.

There may be other tags that could be added to this list, but that's just a start for now.

Updated

Orange should definitely be qualified. The fact that orange is the fruit and not the color makes it inconsistent with other color tags and leads to frequent tagging errors.

In fact I wouldn't mind if all color tags were qualified with *_(color). It's a common mistake to add these tags due to autocomplete errors.

It'd be a complete nightmare to manually change all of the (color)_(clothing) wikis though if we were to add a *_(color) qualifier, especially since I did a large portion of those wikis over the years.

I think he just means the basic version of each colour tag like white, blue, green and such, no need to change clothing tags since I doubt we'll ever have a orange_(fruit)_shirt tag...

Yeah that makes sense, I misunderstood. You have to wonder why those links are even there though, I doubt they would help in any way.

I often add them to refer new users to the fact that images with an overall thematic color can be tagged with that color as well.

Some more potentially ambiguous tags, in no particular order. Not all of these necessarily need to be qualified.

I can take a look at those tomorrow since I cleaned up a bunch of single name tags this evening. If this new section of the list gets big enough, would an addition to the Table of Contents be necessary, or is it too early to tell?

Excellent suggestions, y'all. I made these changes today:

asuna -> asuna_(bakunyuu_maid_gari) (all deleted posts BTW)
bishop -> bishop_(masterbishop)
bola -> bola_(rockman_dash)
canvas -> canvas_(cocktail_soft)
charm -> charm_(heavy_object)
drain -> drain_(evork_festa)
emilia -> nuked altogether
hibiki -> hibiki_(narume_i)
hiei -> hiei_(yuu_yuu_hakusho)
hiryuu -> hiryuu_(kugelcruor)
kashima -> kashima_(naozari)
musashi -> musashi_(kaizin_rumble)
neptune -> neptune_(planet)
ooi -> ooi_(ooi_s_so)
ram -> ram_(computer)
rem -> rem_(death_note)
sazanami -> sazanami_(saza73)

I did not add moon because there is no moon (symbol) tag to compare against, but there is the crescent vs. crescent moon which I have added.

Otherwise they've been added to the new list.

ADDENDUM: For the Fate series characters named after one of the classes, would the same apply to Berserker, Rider, Lancer and Caster? Assassin already has the assassin_(fate/stay_night) tag.
