Rinnosuke's shop is visited by the Rainy Season Fairy, an otherwise nameless character mentioned in Curiosities of Lotus Asia. (Beyond her title, she is given no description, so her appearance, personality, etc. are completely unknown.)

The title appears to be based on 悪魔が来りて笛を吹く (Akuma ga Kitarite Fue wo Fuku, The Devil Comes and Plays His Flute), a work by detective mystery novelist Seishi Yokomizo. In addition to the archaic verb form, "Bai-Rin" is a pun: The word itself means "rainy season", but it also pairs the names "Bairin no Yousei" (梅霖の妖精, Rainy Season Fairy) and "Rinnosuke".
