Not... exactly. In terms of personality, Tokiomi is far more Snape-like, well-meaning and loyal to certain people but foolishly prideful to the extent of loss, while Kariya is more of the "nice guy who nevertheless has questionable morals on occasion".

I guess you're right. Kariya is way much more nicer than Snape, but both made heroic sacrifices that marked the life of their protected ones. But definetely Aoi is the girl who married the jerk (James was it, as first in his teenage years) and was oblivious that her friend loved her

The difference is, the only reason Snape sacrificed himself was because he is personally responsible for her death, and felt he had to make it up - he did NOTHING for her or her beliefs, and even fought against her, right up until he got her killed. Kariya never turned against Aoi like that.
