I thought it was some kind of joke, it turns out it's not as funny as I remember, and is more straight-forward and literal than I blissfully had remembered.
And no Sherlock, there is such thing as bad Japanese, just like there is such a thing as bad French, bad Greek, bad Croatian, you name it. Obviously there exists a form of 'bad english' on this very site that is often subject to scrutiny and humorous remarks: Engrish, as it were.
