"Inazuma" one of those cursed names in Japanese Ships, even today.
Really makes you wonder why the JMSDF didn't just retire the name. There are literally a hundred other destroyer names they could use. Maybe they secretly have a thing for dojikkos.

On a slightly more serious tone, Inazuma is a pretty cool name after all =3

More importantly "Lightning" is way too awesome a name to stop using. I have to say I've always liked Japanese and often UK naming schemes for some classes of ships allot more the the USN. (Carriers in particularly have really gone to crap since the Nimitz. Enterprise is like the only decent one left and she only survives because the US navy will probably never not have a carrier named Enterprise. At least the LHD/As are carrying on some of the names)

CVN-80 will be the new Enterprise, though it will be a while before she is finished.

Well, also, it would raise questions as to why they aren't using a given name. If you try and say that the only reason your ships have accidents is because you haven't found quite the right name yet, instead of because of a lack of training, then...
For the USN, I do like the ships named for places, although that basically means liking random words in a Native American language or maybe Russian or something. At least it sounds unique. They've taken far too much to just naming them after people, though. Seawolf was a kickass name, but then they decide to go with Jimmy Carter as one of the sister ships. At least keep a naming scheme consistant through the production of a class!

I don't mind the place names too much and honestly most other navies do that too particularly with larger ships. The Japanese scheme for battleships was extremely similar to the US for instance just using old provinces names instead of states (It only sounds 'cooler' in many cases because it just sounds foreign). The naming of destroyers class ships after people is fine too that dates back over a century now and is also done in a number of other navies. The problem really is the lack of consistency and the naked and yet entirely useless political nonsense driving many names. No one seems to like it, everyone thinks a ship named "George H.W. Bush" is stupid, and yet they keep doing it anyway while names that deserve to be re-used are left to languish or stupidly assigned to entirely different ship types when a reasonable facsimile of the original's type is in production elsewhere.
I mean fucking Gerald R. Ford when we have Yorktown, Horent, Lexington, Saratoga, Intrepid, and a dozen other better names laying around unused, fucking really? We're the only country on the planet with enough new carriers to use most of the famous names and we're going with THIS shit? I can seriously picture Enterprise like standing off in the back trying to cover up her face every time she ends up in a picture like this with a bunch of them.
Enterprise: "Why do all my new sister have to be such giant dorks... I'm going to go hang out with the LHDs"
