Long hair Serena is such a beauty, would look better without that hat though. Pity Sun & Moon Satoshi won't have that manly bishie sparkle his predecessors did.
On a different note I can see this pic being photoshop abused for memes.

I had patience with the writters of the Pokemon series. I watched till XYZ expecting that they would give Ash/Satoshi the win with one of the best team comps he had in all episodes of the anime, and they do the same shit again. While i had my preference for Pokemon anime over the games (I don't despise, but the games are sure lackluster for me), because at least the characters had development, i will not watch anymore of this, it will be the same thing again and again. At least when Digimon had different protagonists along the seasons, and sometimes the old crew did a cameo there, or were present in the story to give support to the new one.

That's the problem with treating Status Quo as God. After a while, it just gets tiresome. Having your chain yanked over and over and over again for years on end gets fucking tiresome.

Not that I personally enjoy status quo worshipping, but I don't know why people are making a big deal of them pushing the reset button in order to proceed to Sun and Moon.
This is a story where the protagonist had been 10 years old for over damn 20 years of real time airing, I thought everyone would've known already that the developments wouldn't last.
This is exactly what the anime team had admitted times and times again that they know the current crowd watching their animes are most likely not going to continue watching their stories in a few years, that's why they had to constantly push the reset button to appease the new generation of kids.
Kids aren't going to go back and dig the 900+ episodes to watch Ash/Satoshi's full journey, and they too, will most likely abandon the anime in a few years. So it goes back to appeasing another generation again.
Hell, even One Piece now have more 30+ years old fans than actual "shounen" fans, and that's a continuity with a constant storyline. Even the best selling manga in the world can't convince kids to go back and pick up its volume 1.
American comics is an example why Gamefreak wouldn't want to keep the status quo worship together with the need to appease older fans. Batman goes from a story icon designed as a guidance figure for kids to a detective fighting against his enemies with eccentric gimmicks to a story about a clown tearing out his own face just to prove some convoluted points. If you proceed down the path of appeasing the grown ups so much, some day your stories just can't be marketed to kids anymore.
Maybe they should have gone the Digimon/Yugioh route with new protagonists for every generations just so they can keep the continuity clean and presenting a more meaningful storytelling that charms both kids and adults, but they sure ain't gonna fix that at this point. The best thing we can wish for is for them to make another, separate anime series especially for the 13+ audience.
